Your dream computer input device for design

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 26, 2008, 7:39 PM
Hey guys,

In the middle of my final year project at the moment. Basically its a modular computer, where the modules are defined by functions: media, memories, documents, games, creations, connections, organisation; and components: cpu, ram, gfx cpu etc...

The function modules contain their own solid state drives of relevant capacity - ie org has a lot less space than creations - and motherboards of relevant ability - ie the games module can handle more components than the documents module and hence is more expensive. They then also contain components specific to their function - ie the connections module has wi-fi. These function-specific components can be shared by other modules. The idea of this is to reduce component duplication.

The modules connect wirelessly and interact through a central hub which is essentially a screen. The screen has no size limitation, in most cases users will have a portable screen and perhaps a larger one for the desk and then an even bigger one to replace a tv. This "hub" creates virtual convergence - where you have the convenience of all-in-one devices but without the limitations of restricted hardware.

----------

So that's a brief background to it.

My question is in relation to the creations module. This is designed for creative applications such as photoshop, final cut pro etc. Simply it is a solid state drive - but the intention is to also give these modules physical functionality too. For example the media module acts as a remote that can be worn.

So what would be your ideal device to help your creative process? What functionality would you want the Creations Module to have?

Initially i was having it as a device to access tools quickly as this can be helpful in all creative apps. Recently I have decided to add digital pen functionality... so for example if you were rendering you could use it to switch between tools and then use the pen as ur input.

Any thoughts would be appreciated,
Cheers

Anyway so he did do it from scratch. My bad.

Hey has anyone come across page flip for flash in landscape. Its really pissing me off, the only one i can find in landscape only works with Picasa. I just can't understand how there wouldn't be one around.

If you don't know what I'm talking about - [link]

My MacBook Pro arrived on Friday and I finally have everything transferred (I hope). Its absolute sex wrapped in an aluminium box - so much faster than my old G5 and runs CS3 like Asafa Powell runs 100 meters.
